ROCKLAND CIVIL WAR ROUND TABLE: Mission and Purpose
Mission: The RCWRT stimulates and encourages interest in the American Civil War. It provides a forum for discussion of civil war topics, as well as host programs of an educational and informative nature on the Civil War. The RCWRT was formed in 1995 in Rockland County, NY by a group of individuals with a keen interest in learning and sharing knowledge about the Civil War.
The purpose of the Rockland Civil War Round Table is to gather together people who have an interest in the American Civil War. The group holds its meetings each month, with no meetings in July and August. The meetings are held in the Pirate Cove in Pearl River High School in Pearl River, NY at 7:30 pm each month. At its monthly meetings the group discusses and studies all aspects of the Civil War's history, including the causes, battles, Southern and Northern political and military strategy and prominent leaders on both sides. Its goal is to promote and further stimulate interest in all aspects and phases of the Civil War period.
Our membership includes both the novice and the expert, all of whom share an interest in the Round Table’s focus on education and preservation activities related to the American Civil War period.
As part of our commitment to promote interest in the Civil War, we have adopted the 124th Regiment New York monument and markers at the Gettysburg National Military Park. This is a commitment that requires our group to travel to Gettysburg each year to clean up our monuments and the surrounding area.
Annual dues for an individual are $30.00. Family and Junior memberships are available. You are cordially invited to attend a few meetings to see if our Round Table is right for you.
